INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SERVICE

The Baja California State Government holds the legal authorization for managing and operating the International Airport at San Felipe located about 6 miles south of the city. A paved road connects the airport to the Port.

ADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURE AND SERVICES

The airport’s infrastructure, which is maintained constantly, meets all the needs and requirements of its users. It has a runway 4,950 ft. long by 10 ft. wide, a control tower, fuel dispensing service (jet and turboprop fuel), a paved parking ramp for airplanes, and a fire and rescue team. It also has a terminal building with passenger waiting-room capacity for 100 persons, an inspection area for the National Immigration and Customs Departments, a parking lot and a car rental agency.

SAFETY MEASURES

The safety area surrounding the runway, which measures 5,346 feet, has return drops on both ends. Striping demarcates the runway threshold; there are approach path indicators and delineated entrances to fire-fighter, cargo ramps and gasoline areas as well as taxiways and aircraft parking ramps. The airport also features lighted windsocks, lighted threshold, and lights along the runway. All of these safety measures are being modernized to provide quality service for those flying in and out of San Felipe.

The airport also features a 185 ft. by 56 ft., paved aircraft taxiway with demarcations on both its axes; these are also outlined with blue lights to facilitate the land traffic of aircraft.

The International Airport of San Felipe also has a 281 ft. by 165 ft. runway paved with asphaltum and is available for commercial and general aviation. It offers an aircraft parking ramp accommodating multiple aircraft, modern meteorology equipment, a control tower equipped with an airport guidelight and VHF radio communication system with a frequency of 118.5 MHZ, which provides communication with aircraft 18 aeronautical miles away.

GROWING SERVICES

Over the last years, the flow of passengers has increased at the San Felipe airport, especially from the international private sector.
